Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine Operator
Job Description

This role involves operating and supporting production equipment in a clean plastics manufacturing facility that produces components primarily for the automotive industry and some medical applications. The position combines hands-on machine operation with tasks such as drilling, deburring, running presses, and general production support to ensure high-quality plastic parts are produced efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Load plastic sheets into thermoform machines according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor thermoform machines as they automatically heat and vacuum-form parts into molds, ensuring proper operation throughout the cycle.
  • Remove finished parts from thermoform machines and accurately load them into trim fixtures for further processing.
  • Perform drilling, deburring, and press operation tasks on plastic components as required.
  • Assist with applying stickers and labels to plastic parts and trays according to production specifications.
  • Pack plastic trays and finished parts in an organized and secure manner to prepare them for shipment or further processing.
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring tools such as tape measures to complete production tasks.
  • Support general production activities including loading materials, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining workflow on the production line.
  • Follow blueprints or work instructions when applicable to ensure correct part configuration and assembly.
  • Operate within a manufacturing environment using equipment such as punch presses, press brakes, and forklifts if trained and authorized.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around thermoform machines and in assigned production zones.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper handling of materials and safe operation of machinery.
  • Stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed to complete production tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and shift personnel to meet production goals and maintain consistent output across different areas.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 months of experience working in a manufacturing environment (experience limited to warehouse work does not meet this requirement).
  • At least 3 months of machine operation or assembly experience in a production setting.
  • Proven ability to operate or support operation of manufacturing machinery such as thermoform machines, presses, or similar equipment.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Ability to stand for 8 or more hours per shift while performing production tasks.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment and moving parts.
  • Experience with general production or general labor tasks within a manufacturing industry.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and communicate simple machine or process issues.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with machine operation, assembly, and packaging in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with thermoform machines or similar plastic forming equipment.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or mechanical setting.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for basic measurements.
  • Exposure to operating or working around equipment such as punch presses and press brakes.
  • Experience using forklifts in a manufacturing environment, if certified and authorized by the employer.
  • Comfort working with blueprints or basic production drawings when required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in learning additional machinery and processes.
  • Willingness to work different shifts as needed, including day and evening schedules.
  • Interest in long-term growth opportunities, including potential advancement into supervisory roles or different shifts.

Why Work Here?

Employees benefit from a stable manufacturing environment that offers direct employment opportunities after a short period, creating a clear path to long-term security. The organization supports professional growth with room to advance into supervisory positions or move between shifts as skills and interests develop. Team members receive regular financial recognition through two bonuses per year and an annual raise, reflecting a commitment to rewarding performance and loyalty. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), and paid vacation time, supports overall well-being and work-life balance.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean plastics manufacturing facility equipped with approximately eight thermoform machines, each located in separate production areas. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures can be cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer, requiring comfort working in varying conditions. Team members work 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks, with available schedules including a first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Friday hours from 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The work involves standing for most of the shift, moving between machines and workstations, and handling materials and finished parts throughout the day. Standard manufacturing attire is expected, suitable for working around machinery, hand tools, power tools, and general production equipment in a busy but organized industrial setting.
