Job Summary
This class of employees are a semi-skilled worker as a part-time receptionist in the Boone County Parks Office.
Duties are performed under close supervision of the Director.
Major Essential Duties
- Receive visitors
- Answer telephone calls and distribute to appropriate staff
- Give information and referrals to the general public.
- Maintain brochure selection in lobby
- Accept payment for registrations, reservations, etc.
- Maintain office supplies and make sure copiers have toner
- Make any social media updates each week, such as Facebook
- Answer general parks e-mail box inquiries
- Deliver deposit to the Finance Department, retrieve, sort and distribute the mail, enter any program registrations into Park’s software program, check the drop box for any deliveries
- Manage the garden plots program
- Provide support with the Park’s Programming Staff and Office Manager
- Train summer staff of these duties, when they are covering
- Keep updated with the Park’s software system & trouble-shoot any problems
Minor Essential Duties
- Provide pleasant and cordial relationship with general public.
- Develop working with relationship with other Boone County Fiscal Court Departments.
- Performs related duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None
Relationships
- The Receptionist performs duties within the Parks and Recreation Department, under the direct supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
- Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, or the equivalency, or any combination of experience and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Rec Trac registration software desirable.
Language Skills
- Ability to respond to inquiries and/or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies and vendors
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Possess strong oral, written and listening communication skills
- Respond to sensitive inquiries
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs
Reasoning Skills
- Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions
- Interprets a variety of technical and instructional information
- Makes decisions which serve the County's best interest and follow the missions and objectives of the department
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Kentucky driver’s license
Other Knowledge and/or Skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and to deal courteously with the public.
- Ability to use a multi-line telephone, standard office equipment, and computer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Photo Shop software; working knowledge of Facebook and Twitter.
- Knowledge of web graphics/photos creation.
- Must be willing to occasionally work after-hours at the parks and programs and supporting the Program Staff.
