The ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE provides a variety of accounting tasks as well as serving as a resource to the VP of Finance. Activities include general Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable functions such as daily receipts, general ledger and journal entries, month-end closing activities, bank reconciliations, customer and vendor communications, preparation of financial reports, and sales tax activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accounts Receivable activities, including deposits, collections and customer statements.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Customer management: Set up new customers in ERP system; complete credit checks and maintain customer sales tax files, research payment status, process credit card payments, and monitor credit limits.
  • Coordinate with customers and state agencies as needed to resolve sales tax inquiries.
  • Oversee all sales and use tax activities, including filing, paying, and recording necessary monthly taxes
  • Support month-end close activities and other accounting projects as assigned by VP of Finance.
  • Provides backup for Accounts Payable functions, ensuring continuity during absences or peak workload periods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Experience using sales tax software such as Avalara (or comparable system) helpful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook. Must have advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting process documentation. Experience with Acumatica software preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time position offers schedules working from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 8:30 - 4:30 pm (includes paid 30-minute lunch). Hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote following initial training period.
