Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement welding procedures and standards to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Select appropriate welding processes, materials, and equipment for manufacturing needs.
  • Oversee welding operations, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical guidance to welding personnel.
  • Conduct weld testing and inspection to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Design and optimize welding fixtures and tooling for production.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of welded components.
  • Manage welding consumables inventory and procurement.
  • Train and mentor welding staff on best practices and new technologies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures (WPS) and qualifications (PQR) according to industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW) and their applications in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in welding metallurgy, including material selection, heat treatment, and defect analysis.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of results.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with advanced welding processes such as electron beam welding or laser welding.
  • - Familiarity with welding simulation software (e.g., SYSWELD, Simufact Welding).
  • - Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS) certification.
  • - Knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for metal components.
  • - Experience with robotic welding integration and programming.
