Compensation

Pay Rate: $35 – $41 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
A healthcare facility in New York is seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician for a contract assignment. The technician will monitor cardiac rhythms, analyze ECG strips, and identify potentially life-threatening rhythm changes while collaborating with nursing staff and physicians to support patient safety and care.
Responsibilities

Perform continuous ECG monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias

Identify abnormal rhythm changes and notify the appropriate healthcare team promptly

Initiate emergency protocols and assist during code situations, including rhythm documentation
-
Perform electrocardiograms (EKG/ECG) with proper electrode placement
-
Troubleshoot cardiac monitoring equipment and respond appropriately to monitor alarms

Communicate effectively with charge nurses, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding patient status

Enter and verify orders in the electronic system

Retrieve and review laboratory results, escalating critical findings when necessary

Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies and standards

Operate and maintain monitoring and medical equipment safely and effectively
Required Experience
-
Previous experience working directly as a Telemetry Technician or Monitor Technician
-
Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
Education Requirements
-
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Certifications
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
-
Dysrhythmia Course Certification
Preferred Certifications
-
EKG / ECG Certification
Additional Requirements
-
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
