We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Washington, District of Columbia. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in non-profit accounting and expertise in overseeing financial operations. As our Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with government grants.
Responsibilities:
• Manage month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare comprehensive financial statements in accordance with standard practices.
• Oversee accounting activities related to government grants, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Maintain accurate journal entries to ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams both inside and outside the U.S. to support organizational financial goals.
• Provide insights and guidance on non-profit accounting best practices.
• Monitor and evaluate internal controls to ensure operational efficiency.
• Proven experience in non-profit accounting, including handling government grants.
• Proficiency in month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Strong knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with an ERP such as NetSuite, Intacct, PeopleSoft, Costpoint, other similar
• Ability to create and maintain accurate journal entries.
• Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
