Responsibilities

Perform blood draws and specimen collection from a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric patients

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and protocols

Provide coverage at multiple locations, including patient service centers, mobile units, long-term care facilities, and in-office settings

Explain procedures to patients to foster trust and ease anxiety during blood collection

Ensure accurate documentation and data entry of patient information and specimen details

Act as a resource and mentor for new staff members and provide onboarding support as needed

Lead by example, demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence in daily activities

Collaborate with team members and other departments such as sales, laboratory services, IT connectivity, billing, and logistics to support complex test orders and high-volume workflows

Handle multiple priorities efficiently in fast-paced, high-volume settings

Required Skills

Excellent phlebotomy skills, with experience in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections

Strong communication skills to foster trust and provide clear explanations to patients

Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume environment

Experience with data entry and keyboarding

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred

Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially for roles in California, Nevada, and Washington

Minimum of five years of phlebotomy experience

Three or more years of experience in a patient service center or in-office practice environment preferred

Prior customer service experience in retail or service environments is a plus

Keyboard and data entry skills required
