Quality Control Lead
Onsite | Stone Mountain / Clarkston Area

A growing and well-established manufacturing organization in the Stone Mountain / Clarkston area is seeking an experienced Quality Control Lead to oversee daily quality activities within a production environment focused on industrial electric vehicle systems. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on the shop floor, leads by example, and is committed to building quality into the process rather than inspecting it at the end.
Position Overview
The Quality Control Lead will direct in-process and final inspection efforts across mechanical and electrical assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements. This individual will serve as the primary quality contact on the production floor and play a key role in defect reduction, process improvement, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of Quality Control Inspectors
- Prioritize inspection activities based on production schedules and risk
- Train, coach, and mentor inspection staff on methods and quality standards
- Ensure consistent application of quality procedures, control plans, and work instructions
In-Process & Final Inspections
- Oversee inspection of mechanical and electrical assemblies, including chassis, batteries, motors, controllers, and wiring systems
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, BOMs, torque specifications, and electrical schematics
- Ensure safety-critical and high-voltage components meet regulatory and internal quality standards
- Review and approve inspection documentation and defect reports
Nonconformance & Root Cause
- Identify and contain quality issues on the production floor
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured methodologies
- Coordinate rework and verify corrective action effectiveness
- Support audits and customer quality inquiries
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes
- Provide quality input to improve manufacturability and reliability
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor key quality metrics including defect rates, first-pass yield, and rework
- Drive initiatives that reduce variation and improve process stability
- Promote a strong quality and safety culture
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; technical degree preferred
5+ years of quality control or manufacturing experience
1–3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assemblies
Experience interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
Proficiency with inspection tools and test equipment
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to EV, automotive, or industrial equipment manufacturing
- Experience with structured root cause methodologies
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing setting
- Regular presence on the production floor
- Standing, walking, and lifting as required
- Overtime or shift flexibility may be required
