Construction Superintendent – New York City

A growing construction team is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site operations across a range of projects throughout New York City. This individual will be responsible for managing daily field activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with plans and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all day-to-day construction activities on-site from project start through completion
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure work is progressing according to plan
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Enforce site safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and NYC regulations
  • Conduct daily site inspections and maintain detailed project logs and reports
  • Coordinate deliveries, equipment, and materials to maintain workflow efficiency
  • Work closely with Project Managers to address issues, RFIs, and change orders
  • Ensure quality control standards are met throughout all phases of construction
  • Manage site logistics, including staging, access, and cleanliness
  • Coordinate inspections, permits, and sign-offs with local agencies
  • Lead subcontractor meetings and maintain clear communication across all parties
  • Experience working on public-sector projects, including the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), is a plus

Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, preferably in NYC
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trades and maintain project schedules
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to run a job site effectively
  • Familiarity with NYC building codes, safety standards, and permitting processes
  • OSHA 30 certification required (additional certifications a plus)
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam)
