Painter – Facilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in painting or a closely related field under the supervision of a skilled trades worker, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school program.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid, clean New York State Driver’s License required.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Work Location Requirement: Onsite; travel between ICL-owned properties required.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $21.50

About the Role

Under the direction of the Painter Foreman or designee, the Painter is responsible for painting and maintaining the interior and exterior of ICL-owned properties. In addition to painting duties, this role supports facility upkeep through landscaping, grounds maintenance, and snow removal activities to ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained environments across agency locations.

Primary Responsibilities

Painting & Surface Preparation

  • Select and utilize appropriate tools and equipment, including ladders, scaffolds, brushes, rollers, spray guns, drop cloths, tape, and cleaning materials.
  • Prepare paint through mixing, thinning, color matching, and supply requisitioning.
  • Transport materials and equipment to work sites and arrange transportation of heavy or bulky items as required.
  • Prepare work areas by covering furniture, flooring, equipment, doors, windows, and trim.
  • Prepare surfaces through cleaning, patching, sanding, and minor repairs to wood, plaster, drywall, masonry, stucco, metal, and insulated surfaces.
  • Perform caulking, taping, glazing, color matching, waxing, polishing, and application of specialty finishes.
  • Operate spray equipment and spray booths to finish wood, metal, and other materials.
  • Perform minor repairs to spray and roller equipment.
  • Recommend substitute materials or colors to improve quality or efficiency of work.

Signage & Facilities Support

  • Create and install signs using block lettering, decals, and free-hand lettering.
  • Requisition and receive materials and equipment while maintaining records and time reports.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and shop environments.
  • Assist with tasks in other trades when required.

Grounds Maintenance

  • Perform snow removal activities.
  • Complete landscaping activities across agency properties.
  • Sweep, rake, shovel, and remove leaves, branches, debris, and other materials from grounds.
  • Prepare planting areas by raking, tilling soil, mulching, and digging.
  • Cut grass, fertilize and water grounds, and prune trees and shrubs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned.
