We are currently seeking a bilingual Optometrist who will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services in a professional outpatient medical office. This position includes performing routine and medical eye examinations, diagnosing and managing ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, educating patients on eye health, and coordinating care with other healthcare providers. The Optometrist is expected to deliver exceptional patient care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and clinical excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages.
- Evaluate visual acuity, refractive errors, binocular vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and therapeutic medications as permitted by state law.
- Utilize ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, including slit lamp biomicroscopes, tonometers, retinal imaging systems, OCT, and visual field analyzers.
- Educate patients regarding eye health, disease prevention, treatment options, and proper contact lens care.
- Identify medical conditions requiring referral and coordinate care with ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, and specialists as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR).
- Collaborate with front office staff and management to provide high-quality patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuing education requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional examination environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry.
- Current, unrestricted state Optometry license.
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient medical office.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred to communicate with our diverse patient population effectively.
