Job Description\n
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level III trauma acute care setting in Colorado requiring critical care expertise and night shift flexibility.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an acute care ICU with mixed units including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU
- Level III trauma center caring for a variety of high-acuity patients
- Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:1 for critical cases (e.g., CRRT, IABP, Impella) to 1:2, may flex up to 1:3 based on acuity
- Patients include general ICU, trauma, and cardiovascular cases with complex conditions
- Must titrate critical drips such as pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
- RNs read and interpret tele strips; no monitor tech support
- Respiratory therapy designated for ICU but not onsite 24/7; vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow used
- Night shift position with 12-hour shifts
- Schedule includes 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating is generally not required within the zone, but may occur in extreme cases
- Uses Epic for charting; experience preferred, required for first-time travelers
- Role includes managing complex ICU patients, troubleshooting and managing respiratory support, and independently interpreting telemetry
- Charge nurse present on each shift, typically does not take a full patient assignment
- No nurse aides are present; sitter may be provided for specific needs
- Unit orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor plus week of general orientation
- Dress code is any color scrubs
- Time off requests must be submitted prior to assignment
- May participate in holiday coverage rotation
- Not open to candidates employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
- First-time travelers are considered if all additional requirements are met

- Active CO or compact RN license required at the time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- First-time travelers must have at least 3 years of ICU experience and Epic charting experience
- Current certifications in BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS required
- Must be comfortable managing advanced critical care equipment and titrating all critical care drips
- Driver's license must be provided for consideration
- Two references required: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
