● Unit Information:
o Beds: 36

o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year

● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Stroke, heart failure, TIA, sepsis, syncope, AKI, CP, and other general intermediate dx.
● Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:4
o LPN (if applicable): 1:4
o CNA: 1:9-12
● Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
● Skills required:
o General care of the intermediate patient – this is the designated IMC stroke unit for the hospital, so NIHSS certification required and detecting and escalating neuro changes. Managing some hemodynamic drips, titrating down to off – Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, Amio. Telemetry understanding and analyzing of rhythms with back-up support from cardiac surveillance. Understanding heated hi-flow, TR bands (clean cath)
● Support within the Department:
o CNA? Duties? Duties as assigned, within the scope of the CNA; General ADLs, vital signs, ambulation/mobility, assistance with feeding, blood sugars and other duties as assigned within the scope of the CNA.
o Receptionist/HUC? 7am-7:30pm, yes- 7pm-0730am, no.

o IV Pump: Baxter currently- moving to alaris in 2026
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Philips MX-40s
o Unit specific equipment: Routine lifting equipment, VS equipment, CBG machines, wound vacs PRN, Baxter IV pumps. Specialty beds PRN. Omnis for bedside monitoring.
