Position Overview
We are seeking a Rates Analyst to support the setup, validation, and ongoing management of utility rate structures for submetered properties across multiple utility service territories.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate utility billing by analyzing rate schedules, configuring billing systems, auditing tariff structures, and implementing provider rate changes. The Rates Analyst works closely with Billing Operations, Implementation, and Client Success teams to resolve complex billing scenarios and maintain high levels of billing accuracy.

Key ResponsibilitiesUtility Rate Setup & Configuration

Configure utility rate structures for newly onboarded properties to ensure accurate billing from the first billing cycle.

Review provider utility bills for properties using RUBS (Ratio Utility Billing System) methodologies to confirm proper billing setup.

Validate consumption rules, billing calculations, and rate schedules in billing systems.
Rate & Tariff Analysis

Perform comprehensive rate and tariff audits within 60 days of initial billing to ensure proper rate assignment.

Analyze provider utility bills to verify rate accuracy and identify potential savings opportunities for clients.

Interpret complex utility tariffs, rate schedules, and billing methodologies.
Rate Monitoring & Updates

Monitor utility service territories for rate changes, tariff adjustments, and regulatory updates.

Research, verify, and implement new rate structures when provider changes become effective.

Coordinate updates with Billing Operations and communicate impacts to internal teams.
Operational & Client Support

Serve as the subject matter expert on utility rate structures and billing methodologies.

Support internal teams with complex billing questions and escalated client concerns.

Assist Client Success teams with rate audits, account reviews, and billing analysis.
Continuous Improvement

Participate in operational improvement initiatives related to rate management and billing accuracy.

Provide feedback on system enhancements and workflow improvements.

Help develop and refine internal documentation and procedures.
Required Qualifications

2+ years of experience in utility rates, billing analysis, consumption analysis, or similar analytical roles

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills

Ability to interpret complex rate schedules and billing structures

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
