Substitute Teacher
The purpose of the substitute teacher is one who takes an active role in ensuring that instruction and classroom procedures are facilitated in the event the classroom teacher is not present.

Duties
-
Replaces the classroom teacher on a short-term or long-term basis
-
Responsible for teaching the students about the content and following the plans as outlined by the classroom teacher

Fulfills the objectives of the classroom teacher’s lesson plans
-
Executes the classroom management plan/procedure that is already in place from the classroom teacher
-
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior that are consistent with those set up by the classroom teacher
-
Keeps the grade book current and up-to-date to ensure accurate records and communication (long-term substituting only)

Creates opportunities to strengthen the school culture of DSA by having open communication with the students and parents
-
Work cooperatively with all members of the teaching staff as needed and outlined by the classroom teacher and/or administration

Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
-
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect student equipment, materials, and facilities
-
Keep the principal advised of all important classroom information, discipline matters, and departures from usual routines
-
Nurtures a positive school environment for our students and their families

Is mindful of our mission that states we are providing excellence in education rooted in the timeless truths of God’s Word
Requirements
-
Bachelor's Degree
-
At least 1 year of experience in a school setting
-
Ability to work proficiently in a diverse, multicultural setting
-
Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
-
Exemplary Christian role model who lets his or her “light shine”
Physical Requirements
-
The ability to stand and walk for extended periods
-
Good vision and hearing
-
Fine motor skills for handling small objects
-
Clear speech
-
The capacity to lift and move classroom materials
