Mechanical Designer Engineer
Job Description
Job Description
Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineer (Growth-Oriented Role)
The Opportunity
Are you a versatile engineer who thrives on the production floor just as much as at a CAD workstation? PrideStaff is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to bridge the gap between design and production.
This is a unique engineering role for someone who hates being stuck at a desk all day. You will have the autonomy to spot inefficiencies, initiate your own design projects, and see your ideas go from a 3D model to a finished part on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
• Design & Iteration: Develop and update mechanical components, sheet-metal enclosures, and brackets using 3D modeling software.
• Tooling & Fixtures: Design and improve jigs, fixtures, and small mechanical assemblies to streamline production.
• On-the-Floor Support: Spend approximately 40% of your time in the plant/lab environment, troubleshooting processes and collaborating with fabrication teams.
• Self-Directed Projects: Identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements and lead those projects from concept to implementation.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in Lean and 5S initiatives to optimize manufacturing throughput.
Required Qualifications
• Education: Associate degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Mechatronics Engineering (or a related technical field).
• CAD Skills: Proficiency in Solidworks, Inventor, or similar 3D modeling platforms.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to read mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematics.
• Hands-on Background: Comfortable working with manufacturing equipment and understanding shop-floor realities.
• Mindset: A "self-starter" attitude with the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with sheet-metal fabrication (bending, laser cutting, punching).
• Familiarity with GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Exposure to CNC equipment, automation, or PLCs.
The Ideal Candidate
You are the type of engineer who sees a problem on the line and immediately starts sketching a solution. You enjoy the "practical" side of engineering and take pride in creating designs that are actually manufacturable and cost-effective.
Compensation & Schedule
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
• Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000/year (Salaried).
o Note: Our client is willing to go higher for a candidate with exceptional experience.
