Job Summary:

This role involves evaluating and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy treatment plans aimed at addressing movement dysfunction and alleviating pain caused by injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions.
  • Develop, modify, and assess care plans tailored to identified issues, involving patients and their families.
  • Implement therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques suitable for each patient's condition.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff by evaluating their educational needs.
  • Ensure continuity of care by engaging in discharge planning with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, providing home instructions, recommending equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as necessary.
  • Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation detailing patient responses to therapy and the necessity for skilled interventions as required by regulatory standards.
  • Work in a consistently alert and safe manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field, as required for state licensure.

EXPERIENCE

  • No prior experience is necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
  • Regularly use hearing and speech for effective oral communication.
  • Frequently distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or malfunctioning equipment through hearing.
  • Regularly utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Engage in frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and move objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
  • Occasionally use vision to assess distances, spatial relationships, and distinguish colors.
  • Occasionally drive.
  • Rarely crawl.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary depending on the department.
