A healthcare facility in Aurora, CO is seeking a dedicated pharmacist for a 13-week contract opportunity with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance. This position offers a dynamic work environment requiring flexibility, professional expertise, and a commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of overuse
  • Ensure medication supplies comply with legal regulations
  • Verify suitability of prescribed medications for patients
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files
  • Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer their questions
  • Provide consultations on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, and drug interactions
  • Offer patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
  • Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
  • Compound medications for external or internal use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems to physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Colorado Pharmacist License must be current and in-hand
  • Open to retail pharmacists seeking to transition, with on-the-job training provided
  • Flexibility to work day and evening shifts, including early starts (as early as 7 AM) and late finishes (up to 11 PM), with rotating weekends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively consult with patients and healthcare providers
