Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity involves working a 12-hour shift schedule with alternating weekends and holiday rotations, providing consistency while supporting work-life balance. The role is a contract position located in Dewey, AZ, offering experience on a multi-acuity stepdown unit caring for complex patients in intensive care (ICU), progressive care (PCU), and medical/surgical (MST) settings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience; combination of 1 year ICU plus 1 year PCU/Med-Surg accepted with strong skills in larger facilities
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Able to successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam (minimum 80% within two attempts) prior to contract signing
- Experience titrating drips such as sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
- Proficient with bedside cardiac monitoring, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and interpreting telemetry strips
- Clear of any employment with CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within the past 12 months and willing to comply with radius rules
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to patients across ICU, PCU, and MST levels on a 10-bed unit with acuity-adaptable care
- Manage patient ratios ranging from 1:2 (ICU) to 1:5-6 (MST), adjusting if nurse aide support is unavailable
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists to support patients on ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP devices
- Participate in standby rotations during low census periods
- Floats as needed to emergency care, pediatric, and alternative campuses within a two-hour notice to maintain competencies
- Comply with hospital and unit-specific orientation and dress code policies
