Key Responsibilities of the Part-Time Medical Transcriptionist:

  • Accurately transcribe audio recordings of physician dictations, operative reports, discharge summaries, consultation notes, and other medical documents.
  • Proofread and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness, ensuring adherence to established medical terminology and formatting standards.
  • Recognize and flag inconsistencies, errors, and omissions within the dictated material, consulting with physicians or other healthcare professionals for clarification as needed.
  • Adhere to strict HIPAA guidelines and protect patient privacy by maintaining the confidentiality of all medical information.
  • Operate transcription equipment and specialized transcription software to efficiently transcribe and manage medical documents.
  • Organize and prioritize transcription tasks to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of completed documents.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical procedures to ensure accurate transcription and understanding of medical information.


Qualifications of the Part Time Medical Transcriptionist:

  • Deep understanding and accurate application of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
  • Ability to accurately comprehend and interpret spoken medical dictation, including accents and varying speaking speeds.
  • Fast and accurate typing speed, combined with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Familiarity with healthcare documentation standards, including HIPAA guidelines and legal regulations regarding patient privacy.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and error-free transcriptions.
  • Expertise in using transcription software, foot pedals, headsets, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
