Safety Coordinator
Schedule: 7pm-7am (12-hour shifts), 3-4 days per week, rotating schedule including every other weekend
Pay: $18-20/hour
Location: Romeo, MI
Long term contract to hire
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Coordinator to join our night shift team at our track testing facility in Romeo, MI. As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of our testing surfaces, acting as a central point for all safety and emergency procedures on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Monitoring: Oversee and inspect track testing surfaces, identifying and addressing any safety hazards to ensure safe operation.
- Communications Management: Monitor radio communications across testing surfaces and maintain clear and timely exchanges.
- Recordkeeping: Accurately enter and maintain data in Visitor Log and Track Log systems.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with multiple departments to maximize the safe and effective use of track surfaces.
- Safety Systems Oversight: Manage safety communication systems, including signage and beacon lights.
- Surface Operations: Conduct regular drive-throughs on test surfaces to verify readiness for testing; open and close surfaces per protocols.
- Emergency Response: Serve as the Incident Commander during vehicle incidents, coordinating emergency response and assisting as needed.
- Shift Leadership: Uphold site safety standards and procedures, demonstrating leadership during night shift operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
- Self-motivated and proactive work style
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime and weekends as scheduled
- Proficiency with computers, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Competencies
- Experience in safety coordination or emergency response (preferred but not required)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and take decisive action during emergencies
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
