Messing Roofing has installed more than 5,000 roofs over 40 years and built a reputation for exceptional workmanship, fair pricing, and honest communication. Were looking for a St. Louis Branch Manager who can take ownership, lead from the front, and build a high-performing operation from the ground up.
This is ahigh-impact leadership role responsible for all branch functions, including sales, production, customer satisfaction, staffing, profitability, and growth. Position Summary
The Branch Manager is the face of Messing Roofing in the St. Louis region. This role combines the responsibilities of a sales leader, operations manager, and production overseer, ensuring that every jobfrom the first handshake to the final warrantyis completed safely, profitably, and to our high quality standards. Youll build and develop the branch team, drive revenue, manage field production, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Territory Ownership & Business Growth
- Own and grow the St. Louis market, driving both residential and commercial roofing opportunities.
- Generate business through door-to-door sales, networking, community engagement, and outbound efforts.
- Build brand awareness and represent Messing Roofing with professionalism and integrity.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities and partnerships.
2. Sales Leadership & Revenue Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and motivate a high-performing sales team.
- Lead from the front by selling directly, modeling proper sales techniques, and coaching reps.
- Support sales staff with accurate estimates, scopes of work, and closing strategies.
- Set and achieve branch sales goals, revenue targets, and margin expectations.
- Monitor job costs, profitability, and key performance metrics.
3. Production, Field Operations & Quality Control
- Oversee all production activities, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality roof installations.
- Manage superintendents, foremen, crews, and subcontractors to ensure on-time job completion.
- Visit job sites regularly to inspect work quality, monitor progress, and support crew leadership.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Handle material planning, scheduling, equipment needs, and logistics.
- Monitor material usage, track labor hours, prevent waste, and support operational efficiency.
4. Customer Experience & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for major customers in the region.
- Ensure consistent, proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve concerns quickly and professionally, maintaining Messing Roofings reputation for outstanding service.
- Conduct final walk-throughs, deliver warranties, and verify customer satisfaction.
5. Financial, Administrative & Strategic Management
- Manage branch P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
- Review completed projects to compare actual vs. estimated performance and drive continual improvement.
- Maintain accurate job files, documentation, reports, and communication between field and office.
- Implement systems, processes, and best practices to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, architectural specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
Youre a Strong Fit If You
- Have 35+ years of experience in roofing, construction, or outside sales (GM, territory manager, or sales manager experience strongly preferred).
- Are a proven leader with the ability to motivate teams and hold them accountable.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable making quick decisions.
- Have strong knowledge of production schedules, estimates, and jobsite logistics.
- Are organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Know how to selldoor to door, face to face, and over the phoneand arent afraid to hustle.
- Take ownership, solve problems quickly, and operate with a get-it-done mentality.
- Hold a valid drivers license and have reliable transportation.
Bonus Points If You
- Have roofing system experience (shingles, metal, flat roofing, etc.).
- Have successfully built or launched a new branch, territory, or sales team.
- Have experience managing both sales and production simultaneously.
- Understand estimating, job costing, and forecasting at a management level.
