The Development Intern will support Campaign Legal Center’s (CLC) development team in the summer of 2026, a critical time for advancing and protecting our nation's democracy. This internship will provide an exciting opportunity to learn about fundraising for a nonpartisan nonprofit in the leadup to an extremely charged election season. Throughout the internship, the intern will conduct research on prospective donors, provide event support, draft materials and assist the team with administrative and data-entry tasks. They will engage with all members of the development team to learn about general fundraising principles and practices of a high-impact, effective development program. This position will report to the Sr Manager of Data & Analytics.
Given CLC's range of expertise in litigation and policy work, as well as marketing and communications, there will be a range of opportunities for professional development across departments as time allows.
This paid internship will be part-time (15-20 hours/week) for three to four months over the summer of 2026. There may be an opportunity for the internship to extend into the fall, depending on departmental needs. It is preferred that the intern work in person in CLC's downtown DC office 1-2 days per week (Tuesday/Friday preferred), but we are happy to offer flexible scheduling in alignment with a candidate’s class schedule or other obligations. This part-time position is not benefits eligible.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop in-depth research profiles on key donor prospects, producing recommendations for the team
- Assist with creating back ground memos for donor meetings and events
- Assist with event management for virtual and in-person events, including drafting written materials, tracking RSVPs, and providing day-of logistical support
- Handle administrative tasks including developing meeting agendas, taking notes, and following up on ad hoc donor requests
- Provide support with email campaigns by creating emails in Raiser’s Edge NXT and developing branded materials when needed
- Collaborate with Development Assistant on data maintenance and integrity by helping with routine data entry tasks and ensuring materials are saved in our shared Development locations
- Join CLC meetings and meet 1:1 with CLC staff to learn about the organization’s initiatives
Qualifications
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework
- Experience with MS Excel and some degree of technical inclination
- Interest in fundraising, research, and/or the field of democracy
- Quick learner who takes initiative to expand their own understanding of tools and processes
- High level of attention to detail
- Professional demeanor when working with senior staff and/or donors
