Position Summary:

The HVAC Facility mechanic is responsible for maintaining, and repairing all forms of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, equipment, and components, including electrical systems. This role also includes analyzing operations of BAS systems, identifying problems throughout the central plant of all Missouri Historical Society facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all facilities HVAC and other mechanical systems. Systems include but not limited to (VAV, CAV, Multi-zone and Dual Duct) air handling unit systems, chilled water systems, boiler (hot water) and steam heating systems, humidity control systems, rooftop packaged D/X systems, etc.
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all facility electrical control systems as well as BAS systems that include (Siemens APOGEE, Johnson METASYS) and pneumatic controls
  • Work with contractors in the performance of the equipment preventative maintenance program
  • Assist facilities staff as needed.
  • Perform on call duties

Skills:

  • Experience with HVAC and Electrical systems in an educational, industrial or commercial setting
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of large chiller plant systems that serve a multitude of facilities.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of heating hot water boiler systems
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of steam heat exchanger systems
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of all types of air handling unit systems
  • Ability to work with voltages up to 480 volts.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work with testing equipment (volt/ohm/amp meters, air balancing equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, damp or wet conditions, bio-hazardous materials and chemicals, fumes, dust, elevated noise levels, and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work in close and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Possession of valid driver license
  • Possession of Universal Refrigerant EPA Certification
