Job Title: Technical Writer
Location: Hemlock, MI 48626 (On site)
Duration: 8 Months
M-F, 8AM - 5PMJob Description:Top skills/requirements:
- Associates required (additional years of experience may compensate for lack of AA)
- 1-3 years experience as a Technical writer (manufacturing industry preferred)
- This position will not be long term. This start-up site needs assistance with creating documentation: SOP's and technical processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, edit, and format technical documentation that includes process manuals, system specifications, guideline documents, and procedure manuals.
- Collaborate with teams across departments to gather and interpret information about their documentation needs.
- Standardize content across platforms and media to ensure consistency and clarity.
- Review and edit existing documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
- Work closely with project teams to understand product details and develop appropriate content.
- Convert complex technical terminologies into user-friendly language to ensure understandability.
- Conduct periodic reviews and revisions of documents to ensure that the updates and changes in the processes are captured accurately.
Education & Experience:
- An associate degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field OR currently enrolled in one of these programs at an accredited college/university.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role in a technical field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Proficient in using MS Office and other documentation tools.
- Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Interview process: Phone screen /teams meeting with hiring manager and then in person onsite interview with panel of team members.
