Deliver skilled nursing care in a dynamic Cardiac Stepdown unit, focusing on cardiac transitional care for patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients, closely monitoring changes in condition
- Administer medications, perform wound care, IV therapies including central line maintenance, and assist with exams
- Educate patients and families on health management and self-care techniques
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EPIC)
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust treatment plans as needed
- Adhere to infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and Joint Commission guidelines
- Provide physical, emotional, and psychological support to patients and families
- Delegate care appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel
- Work a 36-hour night shift schedule with rotating weekends; flexibility and teamwork essential
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license with 1+ years experience in cardiac stepdown or progressive care setting
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Competent in IV therapy, medication administration, and patient education
Contract Details:
- Duration: 13-26 weeks
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 (with option to increase to 48)
- Up to 5 days approved off per 13-week period
- Major holiday work participation expected, with schedule accommodations
