Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II represents the face of the company to patients by performing accurate and compassionate specimen collection. This role involves drawing blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and maintaining compliance with established practices, confidentiality, and safety standards. The PSR II builds trust with patients by explaining procedures and ensuring quality sample collection while contributing to a professional, efficient, and patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen collection and processing duties confidently and accurately
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-friendly work environment
- Verify patient demographics and labeling accuracy post-collection
- Document all activities, maintaining required logs and records
- Support company image by promoting organizational commitment and professionalism
- Adhere to SOPs, safety policies, and compliance requirements
- Travel as needed to cover multiple collection sites with minimal notice
- Provide superior customer focus and effectively communicate with patients, peers, and supervisors
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
- Customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or service industries preferred
- Experience with data entry and electronic recordkeeping
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience working with diverse patient populations in clinical settings
- Familiarity with high-volume specimen collection centers
Required Skills:
- Excellent phlebotomy skills (pediatric & geriatric included)
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable)
Preferred Skills:
- Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA; preferred elsewhere)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training background
- Superior customer focus and patient communication
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Additional Skills:
- Ability to adhere to company dress code and safety rules
- Knowledge of HIPAA/confidentiality practices
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to change
