Job Title: Welding Fabricator

Location: West Caldwell, NJ

Job Description

The Welding Fabricator is responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding structural and miscellaneous steel components used in infrastructure, rail, transit, construction, utilities, and industrial applications. This role interprets fabrication drawings and blueprints, performs MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, and works with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum to produce high-quality fabricated products. The Welding Fabricator collaborates closely with fitters and shop personnel to ensure precise alignment, strong welds, and adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

  • Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components in accordance with project specifications.
  • Assemble, fit, and weld structural steel and heavy fabrication pieces for infrastructure, rail, transit, construction, and industrial projects.
  • Use fabrication tools such as grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and press brakes to cut, shape, and prepare metal components.
  • Interpret schematics and weld symbols to ensure correct weld types, sizes, and locations on all assemblies.
  • Apply welding inspection and quality control practices to verify weld integrity, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with fitters, welders, and shop personnel on the production floor to coordinate work, resolve issues, and meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a safe work area by following safety procedures, using required personal protective equipment, and operating machinery responsibly.
  • Support a fast-paced production environment by managing multiple tasks, meeting schedule requirements, and maintaining consistent quality output.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG and Stick welding.
  • Experience with structural steel and heavy fabrication.
  • Ability to perform fit-up, layout, and assembly of metal components.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication tools such as grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and press brakes.
  • Knowledge of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Skill in using hand tools for fabrication, assembly, and fitting tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints without supervision.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Clifton, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.
