Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Consumer Loan Processor to support the processing and funding of direct and indirect consumer loan applications. This role plays a key part in delivering timely, accurate loan funding while supporting member satisfaction and overall loan growth within a credit union environment.
The ideal candidate has experience in consumer lending or financial services, enjoys working in a fast-paced setting, and is comfortable handling loan documentation, system entries, and follow-up communication.
Consumer Loan Processor Responsibilities:
- Review consumer loan applications and documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare and finalize loan packages for funding
- Enter, verify, and maintain loan funding data within loan origination systems
- Disburse loan proceeds in accordance with lending policies and procedures
- Ensure required disclosures are issued in compliance with Truth in Lending and RESPA guidelines
- Respond to inquiries from members, dealers, and internal staff regarding pending and funded loans
- Perform follow-up on outstanding documentation for loans in process through direct and indirect channels
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency within loan operations
- Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in required training, compliance initiatives, and departmental projects
- Support team collaboration and maintain professional internal and external relationships
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience within a credit union or financial institution
- Previous consumer loan processing or lending support experience preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply loan documentation, policies, and procedures
- Strong attention to detail with solid data entry accuracy
- Comfortable working across multiple computer systems simultaneously
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Basic math skills and problem-solving ability
- Positive, professional approach to member and internal service
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Primarily office-based role with regular computer and telephone use
- Frequent sitting and verbal communication throughout the workday
- Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 10 lbs)
- May require flexibility to work additional hours or rotating schedules as business needs dictate
- Moderate to high workflow volume in a fast-paced financial services environment
