Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity seeks experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired to serve K-12 students with visual disabilities in a dynamic school setting in Minneapolis, MN. The position offers a full-time, contract role for the 2025-2026 academic year, supporting a caseload of 25-30 students, some of whom may have secondary or tertiary disabilities. The teacher will work across 3-4 school buildings, providing specialized instruction and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational services and adaptations for students with visual impairments
- Coordinate with school staff and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage a diverse caseload, addressing multiple disabilities alongside vision impairments
- Travel between multiple school sites to provide consistent support
- Maintain accurate records and progress documentation for each student
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credentials
- Experience with K-12 students who have vision impairments and additional disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with educators and families
- Ability to manage a caseload across multiple locations
- Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education practices
Location: Minneapolis, MN (works at 3-4 school buildings in the area)
Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Contract Duration: August 25, 2025 June 5, 2026 (subject to change if filled internally)
