Position Highlights
Hours: Varied shifts, totaling 72 hours over two weeks; includes on-call duties during weekends and holidays.

Overview
This position is responsible for delivering high-quality professional care to patients and their families under the guidance of the Surgery Leader and/or Surgeon in surgical suites and other clinical settings within the defined scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon within the limits of competency and established standards of practice. Implement infection control measures and maintain a sterile environment.
- Rotate through the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to clean and sterilize instruments for the operating room, emergency room, and clinics.
- Update preference cards to ensure all team members can perform procedures as requested by the surgeon.
- Adhere to regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Confirm patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon, and consent.
- Apply and monitor aseptic techniques throughout the surgical process.
- Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts in accordance with established policies.
- Engage in the assessment of new supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Prepare the operating room by placing equipment and supplies and arranging instruments as directed.
Essential Qualifications
The candidate must be able to work the specified hours. Successful performance in this role requires the ability to fulfill essential job functions, including adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills. Required Education, Licensure/Certification, or Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program with a Technical Certificate.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) upon hire, or
- Certification as a Tech in Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) upon hire.
Preferred Education, Licensure/Certification, or Experience:
- 1-3 years of surgical experience.
