Position SummaryA professional dermatology practice in Napa, CA is seeking a dependable and service-focused Certified Medical Assistant to support both front and back-office operations on a temp-to-hire basis.This role is ideal for a well-rounded Medical Assistant who is comfortable assisting with patient care, supporting dermatology procedures, providing excellent customer service, processing payments, assisting with product sales, and helping maintain organized clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, support check-in/check-out, and provide a polished, professional patient experience.
- Room patients, obtain medical history, document medications/allergies, and prepare patients for dermatology visits and procedures.
- Assist providers with dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal as directed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and follow all front office, back office, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and clinic protocols.
- Answer phones, schedule or confirm appointments, route patient questions, and assist with general patient communication.
- Collect copays, balances, cosmetic payments, and product payments using credit card/payment processing systems.
- Support skincare product sales, track product purchases, monitor inventory, restock supplies, and assist with ordering as needed.
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms, procedure rooms, medical supplies, office supplies, and retail products.
- Help ensure smooth daily clinic flow by supporting both administrative and clinical needs.
Requirements
- Active Medical Assistant certification required: CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent accepted certification.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required.
- Dermatology, plastics, cosmetic, surgical, wound care, or procedure-based clinic experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting both front and back-office responsibilities preferred.
- Comfortable with credit card payments, patient balances, product sales, inventory tracking, and supply ordering.
- Strong EMR documentation skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full 13-week contract with temp-to-hire potential.
- Must work within Medical Assistant scope of practice and under provider direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior dermatology experience supporting medical, surgical, and/or cosmetic dermatology.
- Experience with biopsies, excisions, wound care, suture removal, procedure setup, consents, and patient education.
- Familiarity with skincare products, cosmetic dermatology workflows, injectables, laser appointments, or aesthetic patient coordination.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
