Position Overview
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading and executing the company’s sales strategy to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and strengthen customer relationships within the manufacturing sector. This role oversees the sales team, develops strategic initiatives, and works cross-functionally with operations and leadership to ensure alignment between sales commitments and manufacturing capabilities.
This position requires a results-driven leader with strong industry knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on sales leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute short- and long-term sales strategies aligned with company goals and manufacturing capacity
- Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and product applications
- Drive revenue growth through a combination of new business development and existing customer expansion
- Analyze sales data, forecasts, and market trends to inform decision-making
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and team performance goals
- Establish clear expectations, KPIs, and accountability for sales performance
- Recruit, onboard, and train sales professionals as the organization grows
- Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement
Customer & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and strategic partners
- Support negotiations on major contracts, pricing structures, and long-term agreements
- Ensure customer satisfaction by aligning sales commitments with production, quality, and delivery capabilities
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, production, and finance teams to ensure feasibility and profitability of sales commitments
- Partner with marketing on branding, lead generation, and sales enablement initiatives
- Provide leadership with regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance insights
Process & Performance Management
- Implement and optimize sales processes, CRM usage, and reporting systems
- Monitor margins, pricing strategies, and contract terms to ensure profitability
- Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical sales practices
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive sales experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Proven experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction materials, or related industries
- Strong understanding of sales forecasting, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive revenue growth
