Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A K-12 school in Sanford, NC is seeking a skilled Visually Impaired Teacher for the current school year contract. This role is ideal for a dedicated educator who specializes in supporting visually impaired students, helping them achieve their full academic potential through tailored instruction and specialized resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Adapt instructional materials and curricula to meet the needs of visually impaired learners
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to provide prehensive support
- Use assistive technology and other tools to enhance student learning and accessibility
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive practices for visually impaired students
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in visual impairment or related credentials
- Proven experience teaching students who are visually impaired across K-12 grade levels
- Knowledge of current strategies, technologies, and resources for education of visually impaired children
- Strong munication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs and environments
