CNC Lathe Programmer | Holt, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAD/CAM software.
  • Select and specify appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices.
  • Determine optimal machining parameters including speeds, feeds, and depths of cut.
  • Simulate and verify CNC programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and collision avoidance.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot and refine machining processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies for programming efficiency and part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in CNC lathe programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit) and manual G-code programming.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • In-depth knowledge of tooling selection, workholding, and various material properties.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize machining processes, reduce cycle times, and troubleshoot programs.
  • Experience with program prove-out and minor machine adjustments on CNC lathes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience programming multi-axis or live tooling CNC lathes.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Prior hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist or Operator.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
