Job SummaryThe Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for testing, and ensuring patients feel informed and comfortable during the process. The PSR I works under direct supervision to deliver safe, accurate, and efficient specimen collection services while upholding confidentiality and compliance with all clinical and company standards.Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collections, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Maintain accurate records, labeling, and verification of patient specimens.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare staff.
- Travel or float to cover additional patient service locations as required.
- Follow all health, safety, and compliance policies.
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy or specimen collection experience required.
- 1+ years of experience in phlebotomy or a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service or retail/service experience preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
Required Skills
- Phlebotomy skills across diverse patient groups.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime when needed.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in a high-volume healthcare or lab environment.
- Ability to float between patient service centers.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Licensure & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred).
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; mandatory only in CA, NV, WA (not required in NY).
