SCHEDULE: Monday to Wednesday and every other Thursday 5:45pm-6am SUMMARY SCHEDULE This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the waste treatment system in the Plating department. This position develops, implements, and maintains procedures related to waste treatment operation and works with the Environmental, Health and Safety Officer to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met. RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Assist in developing and revising new operation and maintenance procedures for waste treatment. 2. Implement and maintain operation and maintenance procedures for waste treatment and related equipment that meet the requirements of JAE Oregon and applicable regulatory agencies. 3. Collect and analyze samples and data related to the operation and performance of the waste treatment system and create appropriate reports. 4. Order and receive chemicals, equipment and parts related to operation of the waste treatment system and related equipment. 5. Collect, analyze, package and ship waste materials from Plating, waste treatment and elsewhere. 6. Recommend and implement improvements to the waste treatment system to increase capability, ease of use and efficiency. 7. Implement and maintain procedures for use of the atomic absorption spectrophotometer and other waste treatment test equipment. 8. Responsible for hazardous waste management activities including labels, inspections and manifests. 9. Complies with departmental and company safety policies. 10. Supports and fosters active participation in, and complies with, corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook. 11. Completes on the job and specialized training as required 12. Awareness of job-related environmental impacts. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS 1. Must be capable of using personal computer. 2. Must understand written and verbal communication in English. 3. Must have problem analyzing skills and be able to handle multiple and diverse priorities. 4. Must be able to make decisions without immediate supervision and use independent judgment. 5. Must be able to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions. 6. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and climb and descend ladders and scaffolds. 7. Must be able to process information systematically.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE 1. Some schooling in environmental regulation, waste treatment or equivalent experience. 2. Must have excellent organizational and clerical skills. 3. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills. 4. Computer proficiency required including Windows NT, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations. 6. An understanding of basic statistical concepts 7. Must have ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization Full Time

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
