Job Title: Budget Director/Manager (Depending on Experience)
Department: Business Office
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Knox College
Employment Type: Full-Time
$110,000- $125,000
Job Summary:
The Budget Manager/Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing the budgetary processes for Knox College, ensuring the effective allocation and management of financial resources.
Under the direction of the Vice President for Finance, the Manager/Director is responsible for development and stewardship of the college’s operating and capital budgets and preparing detailed strategic financial analyses and scenario modeling, capital planning and expenditures analyses, employee headcount control stewardship and reporting, and other research and analyses as needed.
The ideal candidate will be able to communicate complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Development and Management:
- Manage the annual budget preparation process, collaborating with departments to develop budget proposals.
- Analyze financial data and trends to inform budget decisions and forecasting.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive budget reports to the CFO and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Strategic Planning:
- Assist in long-term financial planning and resource allocation to support the college’s strategic goals.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Works closely with vice presidents across campus, and departmental and project leadership to understand financial needs and strategic direction
- Work to provide continuous improvement in the development of a transparent and efficient budgeting process
- Facilitate training sessions for staff on budget management and financial policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or related fields, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Proven track record of managing budgets and financial reporting processes.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Excel; experience with budgeting systems is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities.
