Key Responsibilities· Perform fitting, layout, and fabrication work on barges during repair and maintenance projects· Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders· Measure, cut, fit, and tack weld steel components as required· Repair and replace structural components, including plates, stiffeners, frames, and bulkheads· Work closely with welders and supervisors to ensure proper fit-up and job completion· Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and measuring equipment safely· Ensure work meets quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements· Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company and site safety policies
Qualifications· Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Class A Fitter required· 2+ years of experience in barge repair or marine fabrication required· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings· Strong knowledge of structural steel fitting and layout· Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment· Ability to work independently and as part of a team· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills· Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment· Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and work in confined spaces as required
