The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement initiatives in assembly and test processes, tooling, and work holdings to produce fully finished precision parts for complex fluid control devices used in various applications including medical, industrial, and material handling. This role involves leading continuous improvement for both processes and products in a high mix environment utilizing a wide variety of custom assembly and test equipment built in-house. A team-oriented individual with a broad range of technical skills and high attention to detail is essential, as the role requires collaboration with product development, quality engineering teams, suppliers, operators, and shop personnel.
Responsibilities
- Design tooling and work holdings using Solid Edge 3D CAD.
- Utilize precision gaging/inspection equipment with GD&T principles.
- Read and understand hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematic diagrams and engineering drawings.
- Provide production cost estimates for product improvement programs.
- Create/modify production routers for multi-step assembly and test processes in accordance with ISO 9001 and customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot complex pneumatic circuits and devices.
- Generate operator and maintenance instructions and graphics to support production processes.
- Complete detailed written reports of work completed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Manufacturing or Mechanical.
- Experience working with machined parts.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematic diagrams and engineering drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
- 3D CAD experience, specifically in designing fixtures.
- 1-2 years of experience working within manufacturing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in selecting and purchasing equipment and tools.
- Familiarity with machining, CNC, and project management.
- Access to Udemy after 6 months for skill development.
Work Environment
The Manufacturing Engineer will report within a team of 4 manufacturing engineers, working closely with product development engineers, quality engineers, and operators to ensure efficient product design for manufacturing. The typical work hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility.
The work environment includes exposure to machining, assembly, and fabrication processes, providing an opportunity to learn new skills that enhance experience and resume.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.
