Job Summary
Provides training and awareness to the medical/health community by developing and implementing programs. May also provide programs to the community at large. This position is based in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Responsibilities
· Schedules, develops and conducts trainings for medical personnel in hospitals, doctor’s and dentist’s offices, health clinics, and related medical and health related offices
· Conducts trainings for hospital staff in various departments.
· Conducts trainings for other medical personnel (such a pharmacies) and female centered programs (such as maternal health).
· Conducts trainings for health and wellness related agencies such a gyms, spas etc.
· Develops and participates in trainings to community professionals.
· Develops and distributes screening tool to new clinical staff and new nurses at the hospital.
· Systems advocacy
· Develops/participates in the medical advocacy task force.
· Maintains data collection files regarding presentations and evaluations of programs.
· Maintains appropriate client documentation/records.
· Attends coalition and community meetings as needed.
· Shares responsibility for coverage of open hotline dates, direct services and office coverage with other VRC staff.
· Assists supervisors in providing case management responsibilities.
Qualifications
· BA or BS Degree in a Social or Human Service field or equivalent experience with a minimum of one year experience in assisting victims of crime or relevant field preferred. Must be self-assured, assertive and confident in working with diverse groups.
· Good community networking skills, public speaking skills and written and oral communication skills required. Demonstrates sound ethical practices.
· Ability to work variable hours on a daily basis which may also include occasional weekend on-call availability.
· Must possess the ability to work independently and participate with a work collective.
· Familiarity with personal computers to include word processing and databases is preferred.
· Must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of empowerment, self-determination and diversity as per VRC mission and philosophy.
· Must successfully complete training and certification as Sexual Assault Counselor and Domestic Violence Counselor/Advocate.
· Ability to travel is required. Must possess a valid driver’s license, access to an automobile to perform program duties and automobile insurance as required by law
Note: Full-time: 37.5 hours weekly
