CMM Programmer | Charlotte, MI

Salary Range: $59,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize CMM inspection programs from CAD models and blueprints.
  • Perform precision dimensional inspections of manufactured components using CMMs.
  • Analyze inspection data, interpret results, and generate comprehensive quality reports.
  • Troubleshoot CMM program errors, machine malfunctions, and measurement discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to define measurement strategies and ensure quality standards.
  • Select and design appropriate fixturing and probes for effective part inspection.
  • Maintain CMM equipment through routine checks and calibration support.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
  • Expertise in interpreting complex engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid understanding of metrology principles, measurement techniques, and inspection methodologies.
  • Proven experience in developing, validating, and troubleshooting CMM programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze measurement data and generate comprehensive inspection reports.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for model manipulation and offline programming.
  • Experience with other metrology equipment such as vision systems, laser scanners, or optical comparators.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and data analysis for quality improvement.
  • Experience in the design or fabrication of CMM fixtures.
