Job Description
Support students with special needs in their academic, behavioral, and personal care goals by serving as a Substitute Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in local K–12 schools. This role plays a key part in helping students access the school environment safely and meaningfully during staff absences.
PCAs work one-on-one with students requiring additional support due to physical, emotional, or developmental needs. Flexible, on-call assignments provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in educational and therapeutic settings.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred

Ability to provide physical assistance and behavioral support as needed

Clearances required under PA Department of Education guidelines

Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:

Assist students with mobility, transfers, or use of assistive devices

Support self-care tasks including toileting, feeding, and hygiene as needed

Monitor behavior and provide de-escalation support if necessary

Follow behavior support plans and educational accommodations

Maintain accurate documentation as required by school staff

Provide supervision during classroom activities, transitions, and transportation
