3x12.5 schedule, Straight Days from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with every other weekend and holiday requirements. On-call as per unit needs.
\n\nJob Description\n
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) is responsible for providing exceptional, patient-centered care to expectant mothers and their newborns. The L&D RN supports patients through all stages of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and successful childbirth experiences.
\n\nResponsibilities\n

- Perform comprehensive assessments of maternal and fetal health during labor, delivery, and recovery.
- Monitor vital signs, fetal heart rates, contractions, and other indicators of labor progress.
- Administer medications, including epidurals and induction agents, as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care.
- Assist patients during all stages of labor, including natural births, assisted deliveries, and cesarean sections.
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families during labor and delivery.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment, such as fetal monitors and IV pumps.
- Anticipate and respond quickly to complications, such as preterm labor, fetal distress, or hemorrhage.
- Provide immediate postpartum care to mothers, including monitoring complications such as bleeding or infection.
- Support and educate patients in breastfeeding and newborn care.
- Perform initial newborn assessments, including Apgar scoring, weight, and vital signs.
- Work closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians to coordinate care.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and report changes in patient status promptly.
- Participate in emergency interventions, such as neonatal resuscitation or emergency cesarean deliveries.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in electronic medical systems.
- Follow hospital policies, state regulations, and evidence-based practices.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards and patient safety protocols.
- Stay current on labor and delivery best practices through continuing education.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department.

\n\nRequired Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n

- Current RN license in the state of Ohio.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery or women's health nursing preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
