Are you an engineer who enjoys being hands-on and involved in the foundry process? In this role, you’ll work closely with Engineering, Quality, the Pattern Shop, and Production to design tooling, improve processes, reduce scrap, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and revise gating, risering, and tooling drawings/layouts with a focus on standardization
  • Troubleshoot casting defects identified by Quality, Engineering, or Production
  • Gather, validate, and analyze data to support engineering decisions
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (5 Why, Fishbone, A3, 8D, Kata)
  • Assist with accurate job cost estimates for tooling and castings
  • Create and maintain foundry routings, bills of material, and standardized work documentation
  • Support new job start-ups and drive quality and productivity improvements
  • Assist in resolving customer dimensional, machining, and form/fit issues related to tooling or equipment
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects with sustainable results
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering to analyze data for process improvement initiatives
  • Stay current on emerging technologies to maintain a competitive advantage
  • Identify and communicate process improvements impacting quality, cost, safety, productivity, and environmental performance
  • Perform additional duties and special projects assigned


What do you bring to the job?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred OR Supervisor Certificate or Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Industrial Arts, or related field with additional experience
  • Minimum 2 years of casting/tooling engineering experience in an iron foundry preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • Willingness to be hands-on and actively engaged in the foundry environment
