  • About Facility:
    • 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157
    • 885 licensed beds
    • Level 1 Trauma Designation
    • Teaching Hospital: Yes, Academic Medical Center
    • Chest Pain Center
    • Stroke Center
  • Department Information:
    • How many rooms? 1 designated room, 2 possible float rooms
    • Average patients/cases per day? 5
    • Minimum Years of Experience required? minimum 1 year (post-graduation and/or minimum 1-year OTJ) – must have IR Tech experience
    • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes (with strong experience)
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
    • Interventional Radiology – Comprehensive Stroke Center
    • Cancer, Tumors, Occlusions-Peripheral, Carotid, IVC, SVC, etc.
    • Body: Angiography andaneurysm repair (aortic and thoracic), peripheral vascular interventions, bypasses, endarterectomies (will discuss further during interview)
  • Required License, National Certification, Certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
    • BLS
    • ARRT(R) minimum, prefer VI or CV
      • RCIS with vascular rotations/experience is also acceptable
  • Skills required:
    • MUST be highly proficient in the use of a Siemens Hy. id Artis Pheno Fluoroscopy unit. They would have to be able to operate the unit with zero training from us.
    • Tech should be experienced with IR/Vascular and willing to work in the OR to meet the needs of this position. Scrubbing and assisting in procedures; Circulating-operating equipment, providing needed supplies
    • Angiography skills and experience, assisting in all discussed procedures; being able to circulate/operate/explain/direct use of equipment on a back table; being knowledgeable about equipment and supplies; trouble shooting room (minor issues)
  • Support within the Department:
    • Tech extenders – 3 currently on staff (rotate thru dept. – transport/inventory)
      • 2 per day
    • 2 Techs per Room
    • 4 Neuro providers – Neuro Radiologist and 3 surgeons
    • 5 Body Docs
  • Technology/Equipment:
    • EMR: EPIC Encompass
    • Department specific Equipment: Siemens ARTIS Q, Siemens Hybrid Artis Pheno, GE Ultrasound
  • Floating: If yes, where?
    • Traveler may cover (2) other rooms, depending on case load
  • Orientation (facility and unit):
    • Up to 2 weeks in department, based on experience and comfort level
  • Scheduling:
    • Weekend rotation: every 4th weekend on call (0700-0700)
    • Call required:
      • 2 days per week 1600 until the last case is complete
      • Call begins 1700 on weekdays, 0700-0700 on weekends. Schedule fluctuates and can be discussed further with hiring manager in the final interview.
    • Holiday Expectations: must work if scheduled
    • RTO: Manager approval
    • Shift times: (5) 8-hour shifts or (4) 10-hour shifts, depending on department needs
