Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for performing testing of mechanical and electronic assemblies, such as batteries, chargers, cable assemblies, amplifiers, and associated systems/kits.
Essential Functions*:
- Conducts physical and electrical testing of products to include Safety Assessment, First Article testing, and United Nations Testing on cells, batteries, and other electronic devices, as well as data collection and use of various software programs such as spreadsheets, databases, and visual basic routines to download and manipulate data.
- Prepares and updates standardized or special test reports on assigned tasks and projects in accordance with standard operating procedures or other instructions.
- Understands all requirements for successful task execution and reports all events that do not conform to the work standards.
- Ensures systems and components meet established specifications. Selects correct programs for test equipment in order to test products against customer specifications and/or written protocols.
- Documents procedures and maintains records of product testing with accuracy, to include in-process and completed production records.
- Proficient with various testing and measurement equipment to include digital multi-meters, thermocouples, environmental chambers, dial gauges, and data collection.
- Verifying test equipment is within calibration.
- Complying with and making recommendations to the Quality Assurance Program.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Overtime and off shift work as required.
Education / Training / Skills / Experience:
- Associates degree in related field or 3 Years of work experience in a manufacturing environment at a Technician level required.
- Must have a general knowledge of ISO requirements and working knowledge of those requirements as they pertain to document / record control, work environment including ESD / temperature / humidity / contamination, and monitoring / measuring / inspection / validation of product in support of product design and manufacture.
- Basic ability to extract and understand information from schematic, mechanical and assembly drawings.
- Basic knowledge in electronic circuit testing and troubleshooting and assembly to include Digital and Analog circuits.
- Basic ability to work independently or in a team.
- Basic knowledge of the safe and efficient use of shop tools and test equipment.
- Basic communication skills; oral and written.
- Basic knowledge of and proficiency to consistently perform to IPC workmanship and soldering standards preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electronic industry quality assurance (QA) practices, such as IPC standards.
- Basic knowledge of ESD mitigation processes and procedures.
- Basic ability to submit written input as may be required to support better design efforts and facilitate increased production throughput.
- High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to grasp, pinch, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; speak and hear. The employee must be able to speak, read and write fluently, in English. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include closed vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
