Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a night shift travel contract at a large Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring both scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with 1,266 staffed beds, classified as a Level I Trauma and academic teaching facility
  • CVOR unit primarily handling cardiac and thoracic cases, with additional vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), Whipple (pancreatic), and other complex surgical procedures
  • Night shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Rotating start times as needed: 6:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 11:00 AM
  • Monday through Friday schedule with rotating shift times as needed
  • On-call required as needed; typically 3–4 weekday and 1–2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule, with frequency subject to unit needs
  • Weekend requirements per on-call policy
  • Floating within the surgical service line required to meet facility needs
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Charting system: Epic (experience required)
  • Navy scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if that experience was obtained at a Level I Trauma facility
  • Proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating required
  • Scrub experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have more than 2 years of experience at a Level I Trauma facility
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Holiday coverage required as needed and will be discussed in advance
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • Online orientation modules must be completed prior to the start date
