Start your law enforcement career with paid training.
A Police Officer Trainee, for the City of Branson, attends the Police Academy beginning in June 2026,
completing six months of classroom instructionbefore serving the Branson community as a POST-certified officer.
What You'll Do
- Attend and successfully complete six months of Police Academy training to earn POST certification.
- Fully participate in coursework, hands-on training, and required assessments.
- Assist sworn officers with patrol duties, traffic and crowd control, and community response activities.
- Support investigations through report writing, evidence collection, witness interviews, and court testimony.
- Participate in firearms training, in-service training, and daily operational tasks that prepare you for full-time service as a Branson Police Officer.

Qualifications required for consideration
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position.
- Vision must be correctable to 20/40; must pass the Ishihara color vision test and/or be able to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing red, green and amber; and must meet established hearing standards.
- Must maintain credibility as a witness for testimony given in a court of law is a condition of on-going employment for all City of Branson law enforcement positions.
- Upon completion of the training Academy, achieving POST certification is a condition of continued employment.
- Must be able to qualify with department issued firearms.
- Must be able to pass in-house training courses on the proper use of various police equipment,
- Must possess no felony convictions at any time while employed by the City of Branson.
- Tattoos, Scarification, Body Art, and Body Modificationsmust meet City of Branson Employee Appearance at Work policy.
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings, a background investigation, polygraph, psychological, and medical/physical examinations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting hourly wage is $20.00 per hour and will increase to $23.76 after POST certification has been obtained.

WORK LOCATION: In and around the City of Branson, Missouri; This position requires work to be performed onsite.
