Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various commercial and residential projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in security, surveillance, fire alarm, and telecommunication systems, with the ability to interpret schematics and work with a variety of tools and equipment. This role offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, including system design, cabling, and remote access software integration, ensuring the safety and security of clients’ facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV, security alarms, fire alarms, sensors, and access control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, system design documents, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installations.
- Perform cabling tasks involving power tools and hand tools to run wires for surveillance, alarm systems, telecommunication lines, and sensors.
- Conduct system testing using remote access software and diagnostic tools to verify proper operation.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and system configurations.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to provide technical support and system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with NEC standards and local electrical codes during all installation activities.
- Assist in sales efforts related to alarm system sales by providing technical expertise on product capabilities.
- Adhere to safety protocols related to electrical work, construction sites, and working with power tools.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in low voltage systems such as CCTV, security systems, fire alarms, sensors, or telecommunication infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking, computer hardware, system design, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), surveillance technology, and remote access software.
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction practices and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, NEC standards, locksmithing basics (optional), and alarm system sales processes.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments across various locations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting complex low voltage systems.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation preferred. This position is integral to ensuring the safety and security infrastructure of our clients’ facilities through expert installation and maintenance of low voltage systems.
